Pre শব্দৰ অৰ্থ পূৰ্ব আৰু Position শব্দৰ অৰ্থ অৱস্থান। যিবোৰ শব্দ Noun আৰু Pronoun ৰ আগত বহি Noun বা Pronoun ৰ সৈতে বাক্যৰ অন্যান্য শব্দৰ সম্পৰ্ক প্ৰকাশ কৰে বা সম্পর্ক স্থাপন কৰে তাকেই Preposition বোলে।

উদাহৰণস্বৰূপেঃ

There is a cow in the field.

* ইয়াত in preposition টোৱে cow আৰু field ৰ মাজত সম্পৰ্ক স্থাপন কৰিছে।

Classification and Different Types of Prepositions:

Preposition ক বিভিন্নধৰণে বিভক্ত কৰা হয়। সেইবোৰ তলত বৰ্ণনা কৰা হ'ল-

(a) Simple Preposition

এটা শব্দৰ দ্বাৰা গঠিত Preposition য়েই হৈছে Simple Preposition । সাধাৰণতে sentence ত ব্যৱহৃত একক preposition সমূহকেই simple preposition বোলে।

(The preposition, used in a simple sentence is called simple preposition. )

কেইটামান Simple Preposition হ'ল- as after at, by,down, for, from, in, of, off, on, over, past, round, since, till, though, to, under, up, with etc.

Simple Preposition থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• Birds were singing and the child sang as sweetly. 
• He swam at the lake.
• I finished my work after a month.
• They were sitting by the tree.
• There is some milk in the fridge.
• It is a book for children.
• He was blind from birth. 
• I am ignorant of the facts.
• Ashoka ruled over a vast empire.
• He sat on the chair.
• She was hiding under the table.
• I am busy with my work.
• We invited him to dinner.
• He is sitting under the tree.

 

(b) Compound Preposition Preposition

 Noun, Pronoun Phrase ক যুক্ত কৰিবলৈ ব্যৱহৃত হয় তাক Compound Preposition বোলে।

(The preposition used to join two nouns, pronouns or phrases is called compound preposition.)

Noun, Adjective Adverb Simple Preposition যুক্ত হৈ যি Preposition গঠিত হয় তাকেই Compound Preposition বোলে। যেনেকৈ about (on+by+out)। ইয়াত on ৰ স্থানত a আৰু by ৰ স্থানত b বা be হয়। একেদৰে below (by+kow) I

কেইটামান Compound Preposition হ'ল- about above,across, against, along, amidst, among, around, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, beyond, inside, into, outside, throughout, towards, until, upon, within, without ইত্যাদি।

Compound Preposition থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• Please tell me something about this book.
• Astronatus work a long way above the surface of the earth.
• The river is running across the town.
• Distribute these toffees among ten children.
• I will complete the work before he comes.
• He stood behind the wall. 
• He sits beside me.
• I am sitting between my parents.
• He jumped into the pool.
• She is sitting outside the house.
• Let's wait until the rain stops.
• You should receive a reply within seven days.
• He found the place without difficulty.

(c) Phrase Preposition

যিবোৰ Preposition দলবদ্ধ শব্দ আৰু বাক্যৰ বিভিন্ন অংশৰ ভিতৰত সম্পৰ্ক বুজায় সেইবোৰক Phrase Preposition বোলে।

(The prepositions, which are a group of words, showing the relationship among various parts of the sentence, are called phrase prepositions.)

দুই বা ততোধিক Preposition (বা Word) এ একেলগে Phrase Preposition গঠন কৰে।

কেইটামান Phrase Preposition হ'ল- In spite of, infront of, in order to, due to, on account of, for the sake of ইত্যাদি।

Phrase Preposition থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• He came here in order to meet me.
• We were standing in front of the college.
• She could not come here due to her illness.
• I will get to the conference on time.

 

(d) Double Preposition

দুটা preposition যুক্ত হৈ এটা নতুন preposition গঠন কৰিলে তাকে double preposition বোলে। 

(When two prepositions come together to create a new word, are called Double preposition.)

দুটা simple Preposition যুক্ত হৈ double Preposition ৰ নিচিনা ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনেকৈঃ within (with+in), into (in+to)

কেইটামান Double Preposition হ'ল - into, upon, onto, out of, from within, because of, from behind, within, out of, outside of ইত্যাদি।

Double Preposition থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess.
• The baby climbed onto the table.
• The caterpillar turned into a butterfly.
• It is up to us to find the answer.
• She never leaves without her phone.

 

(e) Participle Preposition

Participle of verb (Present or Past) কেতিয়াবা কেতিয়াবা Preposition ৰ নিচিনাকৈ ব্যৱহৃত হয়।

Participle prepositions ৰ শেষত- ed বা -ing থাকে; যেনেদ - considering, during, concerning, provided f

(Participle prepositions have endings such as -ed and -ing. Examples are words such as considering, during, concerning, provided)

Principle Preposition থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• The dog kept following him home.
• The teacher said no talking during class.
• The principal was asking questions regarding her behavior.
• Considering his age, he did a great job.
• He was frustrated at the situation.

(f) Disguised Preposition

বহুত ক্ষেত্ৰত লক্ষ্য কৰিলে দেখা যায় on, at, of Preposition ৰ পৰিৱৰ্তে a বা ০ ব্যৱহৃত হয়। এনেকুৱা a বা & Disguised Preposition বোলে।

 

(g) Special Preposition

Than আৰু but মূলত Conjunction হ'লেও কেতিয়াবা আকৌ Preposition হিচাপেও ব্যৱহৃত হয়। তেতিয়া সিহঁতক Special Preposition বুলি কোৱা হয়। 

যেনেকৈঃ I am older than her.

 

(h) Verbal Preposition

এই জাতীয় Preposition এ Verb ৰ সন্মুখত যোগ হৈ নতুন Verb গঠন কৰে। 

যেনেকৈঃ Overlook (Over+Look), Withdraw (With+Draw)

(i) Preposition of time

যিবোৰ preposition কোনো কামৰ সময়ত বা এটা sentence ৰ noun সমূহৰ মাজত সময়ৰ সম্পৰ্ক নিৰ্দেশ কৰে তাকেই preposition of time বোলে।

(The preposition indicating time in a speech is called preposition of time.)

কেইটামান Preposition of time হ'ল- on, in, at, for since ইত্যাদি।

Preposition of time থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• I always wake up at 7am.
• Paul was born in 1990.
• The conference is on 10 March.
• My mother said I have to be home by 7pm.
• I've been living here for 6 months.
• I've been living in Guwahati since January.

 

(j) Preposition of place

যিবোৰ preposition কোনো অৱস্থান নিৰ্দেশ কৰে তাক preposition of place বোলে।

(The preposition, which is used to indicate where something is located, is called preposition of place.)

কেইটামান Preposition of place হ'ল- behind under, on in, at, between, over ইত্যাদি।

Preposition of place থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• Jania is waiting for you at the bus stop.
• The boy was standing behind the tree.
• She lives in Guwahati.
• The cat is under the chair.

 

(k) Preposition of direction

যিবোৰ preposition এ কোনো বস্তুৰ বা কাৰোবাৰ দিশে নিৰ্দেশ কৰে তাকেই preposition of direction বোলে।

(The preposition used to indicate the direction of something or someone is called preposition of direction.)

কেইটামান Preposition of time হ'ল- in, on, under, over, left, right ইত্যাদি।

Preposition of direction থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• The school is situated on the right side of the town.
• Meet me at the stop sign.
• The jeep is now going over the bridge.
• The movie theater is near by the interstate
• The bird is sitting on the roof.

(1) Preposition for an agent

যিবোৰ preposition এ কোনো কাম বা কাম সম্পাদনকাৰীৰ মাজত সম্পর্ক নিৰ্দেশ কৰে সেইবোৰক preposition for agent বোলে।

(The preposition used to indicate a relation on the basis of a cause between a work and its doer is called preposition for an agent.)

কেইটামান Preposition for an agent হ'ল :- by, with, without ইত্যাদি।

Preposition of an agent থকা বাক্যৰ উদাহৰণ হ'লঃ

• This poem was written by Walt Whitman.
• He was hit by a ball.
• The room is being decorated by her.
• I like to go there with you.
• That man opened the door with the key.
• I'm going to England next week with my wife.
• You can't play soccer without a ball.

(m) Preposition used for Tools, Mechanism or Gadget

এই preposition বোৰ বিভিন্ন noun ক (যন্ত্র, বাদ্যযন্ত্র , মেচিন সম্বন্ধীয় ) sentence ৰ অন্যান্য শব্দৰ সৈতে যুক্ত কৰে।

(The prepositions which are used in case of tools, mechanism or gadget are called preposition used for tools, mechanism or gadget.)

উদাহৰণস্বৰূপেঃ

• I opened the bottle with the help of an opener. 
• He likes to go long drives by his car.
• She came here on foot.
