কোনো কাম সম্পাদনৰ নিৰ্দিষ্ট অথবা অনির্দিষ্ট সময় / সময়কালকেই Tense (কাল) বোলা হয়।

গতিকে আমি ক'ব পাৰো যে, ক্ৰিয়াৰ যি ৰূপৰ দ্বাৰা ক্রিয়া ঘটাৰ বিভিন্ন সময় বুজায়, সেই সময়কেই ক্ৰিয়াৰ কাল বোলা হয়। অথবা কার্য সম্পন্ন হোৱাৰ সময়কেই ক্ৰিয়াৰ কাল বা কাল বোলে। 

ক্ৰিয়াৰ কাল তিনি প্ৰকাৰঃ 

1. বর্তমান কাল

2. অতীত কাল 

3. ভবিষ্যৎ কাল

Tense এ ইংৰাজী ব্যাকৰণত, কোনো কৰ্ম বা ঘটনাৰ সময়ক বুজায়। কামটো কেতিয়া শেষ হ'ব সেয়া জনায়। ই কামটো বর্তমান, অতীত বা ভৱিষ্যতত সম্পন্ন হৈছিল/হৈছে/হ'ব নে নাই সেয়া চিহ্নিত কৰে।

(Tense, in English grammar, refers to the time of an action or event. It tells when the work is done. It identifies whether the work is done in the present, the past or the future.)

 

ইংৰাজীত sentence গঠনৰ বাবে tense ৰ গুৰুত্ব অসীম। ইংৰাজীত বিভিন্ন সময়কাল নির্দেশ কৰিবলৈ tense ৰ বিভিন্ন form ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। Tense ৰ মুঠ ১২ টা form আছে। সকলো ধৰণৰ ইংৰাজী বাক্য এই ১২ টা form ৰ যিকোনো এটাৰ দ্বাৰাই গঠন কৰা হয়।

উদাহৰণস্বৰূপেঃ (Example):

a) I eat Rice/He eats rice. (Present Tense)

b) I ate rice/He ate rice. (Past Tense)

c) I shall eat rice / He will eat rice. (Future Tense)

3. Future Tense (ভৱিষ্যৎ কাল)

ক্ৰিয়াৰ যি ৰূপৰ দ্বাৰা ক্ৰিয়া বৰ্তমান ঘটিছে বুজায় সেই সময়কে বর্তমান কাল (Present Tense) বোলে।বর্তমান কাল চাৰিটা form ৰ দ্বাৰা ক্ৰিয়াক বিশ্লেষণ কৰা হয়।

Present Tense ৰ কেইটামান উদাহৰণ হ'ল (Examples):

*For habits (অভ্যাসৰ বাবে) 

• He drinks tea at breakfast.
• She only eats fish. 
• They watch television regularly.

 

*For repeated actions or events (পুনৰাবৃত্তি কৰ্ম বা ঘটনাৰ বাবে)

• We catch the bus every morning. 
• It rains every afternoon in the hot season. 
• They drive to Monaco every summer.

 

*For general truths (সাধাৰণ সত্যৰ বাবে) 

• Water freezes at zero degrees. 
• The Earth revolves around the Sun. 
• Her mother is Peruvian.

 

*For instructions or directions (নিৰ্দেশাৱলী বা দিশনিৰ্দেশৰ বাবে)

• Open the packet and pour the contents into hot water.
• You take the No.6 bus to Watney and then the No.10 to Bedford.

 

*For fixed arrangements (স্থায়ী আয়োজন/পৰিকল্পনা/ কৰ্মসূচীৰ বাবে)

• His mother arrives tomorrow.
• Our holiday starts on the 26th March

 

*With future constructions (ভৱিষ্যত বাখ্যাৰ সৈতে)

• She'll see you before she leaves.
• We'll give it to her when she arrives.
